5-Tier Density Variations Supported

1IPC A: Maximum (Most) Land Protrusion – For low-density product applications, the 'maximum' land pattern condition has been developed to accommodate wave or flow solder of leadless chip devices and leaded gull wing devices. The geometry furnished for these devices, as well as inward and 'J' - formed lead contact device families, may provide a wider process window for reflow solder processes as well.

2IPC B: Median (Nominal) Land Protrusion – Products with a moderate level of component density may consider adapting the 'median' land pattern geometry. The median land patterns furnished for all device families will provide a robust solder attachment condition for reflow solder processes and should provide a condition suitable for wave or reflow soldering of leadless chip and leaded Gull Wing type devices.

3IPC C: Minimum (Least) Land Protrusion – High component density typical of portable and hand-held product applications may consider the 'minimum' land pattern geometry variation. Selection of the minimum land pattern geometry may not be suitable for all product use categories. The use of classes of performance 1, 2, and 3 is combined with that of component density levels A, B, and C in explaining the condition of an electronic assembly. As an example, combining the description as Levels 1A or 3B or 2C, would indicate the different combinations of performance and component density to aid in understanding the environment and the manufacturing requirements of a particular assembly.

4User-defined preferences. Companies can establish a standard set of preferences to apply to all users of the PCB Library Expert! Settings include:

The Library Expert is synchronized to the latest guidelines of the IPC-7351, and IPC-J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies). You want your PCB Layout to pass the J-STD-001 standard for solder joint acceptability in the PCB assembly process. You also get the ability to migrate your entire library to future revisions or your own custom-defined requirements as well! Why is this important? Because it ensures that everybody - regardless of experience or language - can build high-quality parts in the same standard, professional way!

Improve your PCB Library skills with solder joint goal knowledge. Take the IPC-J-STD-001 training class ASAP! The PCB designer and EE engineer should have as much information about the PCB assembly process as possible for DFA (Design for Assembly).

We have been involved in IPC standards development for many years, and are intimately familiar with both, the IPC-7351 and J-STD-001.

Download and install the Evaluation License for the PCB Library Expert to see for yourself how it can benefit you! Feel free to contact us or any of our world-wide distributors with questions or to request no-obligation demos!

There are seven types of licenses:
- Single User USB Key (perpetual)
- Network USB Key (perpetual)
- Global Network USB Key (perpetual)
- Single User SL (12-month based refresh)
- Network SL (12-month based refresh)
- Global Network SL (12-month based refresh)
- Lease License (with MAC address limit)

By default, all quotes issued are for the perpetual USB Key, our most popular configuration. Users who want to go without a USB Key (for example if installing a Network License on a virtual server), have the option of the SL license.

Leased License (Cloud)
The Lease License is available in monthly and annual increments, with access limited by quantity of MAC addresses purchased. PCBL may impose other restrictions for users of the Leased License, such as Software upgrade requirements, meaning you will need to upgrade to keep using the Software. Availability of this license is subject to numerous variables related to network/internet connectivity between you and PCBL servers, as well as downtime due to other reasons - such downtime for updates or maintenance. Proxy Servers are not supported.

Single User License (USB Key)
This perpetual license entitles you to install and run the software on one local computer. This solution is ideal for the PCB design contractor or companies with one PCB designer. The Single User is licensed on USB key, and can be easily moved to any computer as needed. Contracting and/or always changing computers? No problem, we make it a snap!!

Network License (USB Key)
The Network License is perpetual and available for all the users you need! It is ideal where library standardization is desired, regardless the CAD formats used. Professionals or novices can now easily create libraries according to company specification and customer requirements. The Network License is based on a network-enabled USB key that may be placed on a server or even a regular/user's computer. Once configured, when a user on the network opens the Library Expert, a license is automatically checked out from the key. When the Library Expert is closed, the license is made available for others to check out.

Global Network License (USB Key)
The Global Network License is identical to the Network License, but in addition also gives customer right to place the Network License on the company's globally-accessible network so it is available to company users outside the location assigned to the license.

Single-SL, Network-SL, and Global-Network-SL Licenses
The HASP 'SL' Licenses (Single and Network) are not perpetual and expire 12 months after purchase, at which time they cease to function unless they either get Refreshed or Replaced.
- Refresh - renewing same License ID (on same machine, or server if a network license)
- Replace - issue a new License ID for a new PC or server

There will be no cost to REFRESH nor REPLACE either SL license if in conjunction with an upgrade purchase. If no upgrade is purchased and the license needs to be refreshed for a Library Expert version older than what is currently available at that time (for example refreshing a 2017 license for another 12 months in 2018 without upgrading to version 2018), the 12-month REFRESH will be subject to a non-refundable processing fee of $100. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE that older versions of the Library Expert will function as intended - or at all - with newer operating systems, patches, .NET Framework updates, etc.

Zuken Tutorial

If the license needs to be installed on a new computer or a new activation is required for whatever reason, a REPLACEMENT license will be required, and will be subject to a non-refundable processing fee of $125; customer and PCBL may need to take steps to terminate all previously issued license(s)/activation(s) that are being replaced. A limit of 3 license replacements are allowed for each VERSION of the Library Expert for which a license is purchased, after which the licenses must be repurchased.

CR-5000 Board Designer: Wiring probability - SCREENSHOTFloor Planning and Routing
This tool enables floor planning of individual components and groups of components, taking account of the side of the board on which they are to be placed. This information, together with both component and net information is linked with Design Gateway.
Wiring input is made easier because fillets and tangent arc shapes can be generated simultaneously. Real-time spread is supported for wiring and surface shapes. Online design rule checking (DRC) takes account of resist patterns and ensures equal-potential nets.
Unconnected nets can be automatically detected and selected during interactive routing. Additionally, an automatic bus wiring and editing function identifies those nets that are suitable for bus wiring in advance, simplifying bus input operations. Placement and wiring information can be automatically copied and placed elsewhere in the design. Move components with indicators guiding users for optimum location and dynamically consider the virtual wiring length during placement. Component push and rewiring after placement are also supported.
CR-5000 Board Designer: Placement & Wiring optimum location - SCREENSHOTComponents can be grouped together and, by creating a group region, preliminary placement and component DRC checks can be carried out, taking account of wiring blocks.
All data assigned to nets and components are confirmed in real-time using a dialog display. Furthermore, maximum and minimum wiring length limits are displayed in graphical form during wiring and relocation.
Net density is displayed in real-time when wiring after component placement. The degree of detour can be specified in the calculation of virtual net lengths, and this allows checks to be made in conditions where actual wiring is assumed to have been carried out. Additionally, net density is constantly checked while components are moved.
Even when there is no indication of bypass capacitors on the schematic diagram, batch generation can be carried out in the vicinity of the corresponding IC. Batch generation is also available for fillets, shield patterns, surface patterns for reinforcement, and the like. Detailed parameters that specify factors such as the arc radius and connection component can be set. Supplementary vias that are effective in lowering the impedance of power supplies and grounds can be batch generated and a myriad of dimension line patterns can be created for length, diameter, angle, lead, etc. Positions, arrow shapes, and repeat input can also be specified.
Gerber data, HP-GL/HP-GL2 format plotter data, layer data from separate PCB files, and similar information can be read during interactive design.
Team-Based Design
By defining regions on a PCB and dividing them with connection information intact, multiple designers can work on each region. Furthermore, the consistency of the board's design information is maintained. Partitioning in copy mode is also supported. Design File Manager presents the partitioned data using a hierarchical display. Monitoring functionality allows designers to view other files currently opened by other engineers. During division, connectors that indicate the connection points for partitioned sections can be generated.

Upon expansion, it is possible to specify a wide range of different options relating to, for example, the integration of surfaces, the preservation of land conditions, and the layers to be expanded.
Build-up Technology: 3D Viewer - SCREENSHOTBuild-up Technology
Build-up technologies that reduce layer count and improve board density are supported through dedicated commands in combination with libraries of layer configurations, vias, and clearance rules. The Build-Up Rule Editor is a dedicated visual editor for setting via and clearance rules for build-up boards. Additionally, a double via checking function enables correct generation of double vias for connection reinforcement or improving current carrying capacity. An optional, web-based service provides a library file of layer configurations, vias, and clearance rules for the build-up board specifications from a variety of board manufacturers.
Build-up Technology: Rule Editor - SCREENSHOTUsing the 3D Viewer/Editor in CR-5000 Board Designer, vias displayed in 3D format can be moved and modified. 3D Viewer function within BD can be used to change the view of any design at any stage into 3D, thus allowing you to look through the design to see inner layers/complex areas - ideal for HDI/dense multi-layer boards.
Embedded Component Design
This module supports designs with components embedded between board layers. This technique not only saves space but can improve electrical performance, both in terms of signal integrity and EMC performance, particularly in high-speed circuits. Placement sides of the PCB and layer positioning can both be specified while moving components and DRC checks take into account copper foil thickness and insulator thickness. Checks can be performed having set placement side restrictions set for each individual inner layer.
Placement DRC
CR-5000 Board Designer: Placement DRC - SCREENSHOTDesign rule checking (DRC) extends into component placement in CR-5000 Board Designer. Clearances between components, placement sides, and angular restrictions can be checked. In addition, the maximum wiring length set for a net can be checked at the floor planning stage. Check items have been provided to support the ever diversifying specifications of PCBs.
In-depth checking of equal-potential nets, checked in accordance with the PCB specification, and checking wiring lengths, topology, and other factors necessary for high-speed boards are all supported.
Batch checks can be carried out on resists, silkscreen print elements, and a wide range of other elements relevant to manufacturing data.
Management of check data and referencing of error data is straightforward. Clicking an error report highlights the corresponding PCB area, allowing confirmation to be performed visually. Status information and comments can be added to error data.
